Will My Medical Insurance Cover Tooth Extraction?

I am having to have several teeth pulled, including my four wisdom teeth. Several of the teeth have become impacted. Will my medical insurance (Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Minnesota) cover any of this or is this something that only dental insurance covers?

  8. Probably not, and for Blue Cross/Blue Shield I seriously doubt it. Health Insurance companies almost never cover dental unless you pay for an extra policy that covers dental. Since you are asking this question you probably don't have the policy coverage. The Veteran Administration is the world's largest HMO with office in every state and overseas. If you are partially disabled in the line of duty then the VA will pay for 100% of your medication and most treatments. However, they won't pay a dime in dental care unless you are 100% disabled. If the government works that way then the government sponsored Blue Cross and Blue Shield organization most likely follows the same pattern.   9. MEDICAL MAY COVER IT IF ONLY IT'S DONE IS A HOSPITAL UNDER GENERAL ANESTHETIC. DENTAL WOULD COVER IT UNDER THE DENTAL COVERAGE IF DONE IN A DENTAL OFFICE. HOSPITAL DENTAL WORK IS NOT PERFORMED USUALLY UNLESS VERY TECHNICAL SURGICAL PROCEDURES ARE REQUIRED, THE WORK WOULD NOT BE DONE IN A HOSPITAL.
