Are co-habitational couples, in Texas, allowed to be covered under the same health insurance plan?

I heard that a law was passed allowing this, but I do not know if this is true, nor have I been able to find any information on the subject.

  1. I don't think so, but, contact the Texas insurance commission, they are the ones that regulate insurance companies in Texas.
  2. No, not true.
  3. It depends on the insurance carrier. It is allowed but not required. Check with your carrier and if so, they will tell you what you need to do.
  4. No and No. Texas is great but it does not allow for marriages outside of the great states regulations. Very conservative and by the book morality. It provides for child support but not alimony. I have great pride and appreciate the laws that govern there. If you want to form a contract and live up to the laws that govern...fine. Want to make up laws that give you no contract and you are on your own. Get married or be single....your choice and stand up for your beliefs.
