Where can a person go in Texas to get health insurance when turned down for preexisting condition?

Even the state insurance coverage had a waiting period of 12 months for the preexisting condition. Lots of people have high blood pressure. Just wondered what I could do.

  1. That's not just Texas, pal. That's all of the United States. Someday, when the government stops spending money carelessly, we'll have Universal Health Care like the rest of the world. For now, try Highmark or a government sponsored healthcare, or maybe a bit easier, get a job with benefits or look into the benefits of your current job. I have diabetes and asthma (pretty common diseases) but I cannot get any insurance because of these documented conditions. I'm considered too "High Risk." Good luck.
  2. I don't live in TX, but I just go to the health center. They work on a cash basis. Or for that mater just see if you can find a DR that works on a cash basis, and see if you can find catastrophe insurance. It should be cheaper, since it doesn't have all the riders, but still cover it in a wreck or something like that.
