Florida Health Insurance Coverage?

I live in PA (orig. from Jersey) and I will be moving to Florida in June. I am covered under my parents plan until I turn 23 and lose coverage end of December. My Aunt told me that in NJ companies cannot deny you of a plan if you apply for one. Is this true for FL as well? I also have what they will call "pre-existing conditions" anxiety, back problems, an auto-immune disorder among other things. I am very frightened to be without affordable coverage. I know in PA if you have insurance through an employer they cannot deny you of anything "pre-existing" ...is this true in Florida as well? Please so not try to sell me anything...Thanks!

  1. I would strongly recommend you to visit this website.. www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I was like you at one time, when I got off my parents insurance and needed some pre existing work done. I found this plan, and signed up online. They activated my benefits in 2 hours and able to use it nation wide. They are extremely affordable and have helped me save "literally" thousands of dollars on all procedures. I am grateful that I found them. Good Luck, hope this helps.
  2. In the state of Florida if you have a pre-existing condition and apply for group health insurance coverage then you will be accepted regardless of your health issue. However, the group health insurance plan has the right to exclude coverage for your pre-existing conditions for the first 12 months you are enrolled on the plan ONLY if you have not keep continuous health insurance coverage prior to joining the group plan. Individual health insurance in Florida is different. If you have a pre-existing condition and apply for an individual health insurance plan then they will typically treat it a couple of different ways: 1. Deny you coverage (if the pre-existing condition is something major) 2. Give you coverage and cover everything 3. Give you coverage and exclude coverage for the pre-existing conditions 4. Give you coverage and charge you extra to cover the pre-existing conditions 5. Be forced to give you coverage and cover everything due to HIPAA laws (you must meet certain eligibility criteria) Policies vary from one insurance company to another so be sure and comparison shop. http://www.healthquote360.com/Individual_Health_Insurance/HIPAA_Health_Insurance.php
