Individual health insurance in Florida for someone with pre-existing conditions??

My husband has high cholesterol (he is only 32) but it is hereditary. He eats right and exercises but is not currently on meds to lower his cholesterol. Neither of our employers offer health insurance. He was recently denied coverage due to no current treatment for the high cholesterol. Does anyone know of a company that would cover him with a pre-existing condition and with already being denied by one company? We live in Florida. He will be starting cholesterol lowering meds soon. We really don't want a discount plan. I am not so concerned with drug coverage for him because we get the cheap Wal-Mart prescriptions, just major medical coverage. Any suggestions are welcome!

1. Not all companies are the same when it comes to underwriting departments. I know BC/BS in some states cholesterol is an automatic decline. While other companies would only do a 25%-50% rate up on that paricular health condition. What you should do is find a reputable Health Insurance Broker and get him or her to find you the best options for health insurance. About the prescritpion issue. While Wal-Mart Costco, Sams Club are offering low cost drugs it's importnant to understand that havinf prescritpion in your policy is very important is something happens in the future. Health Insurance is for offsetting something that might ahppen in the future not whats going on now. Your husband might be prescribed Lipitor and if he is beleive me you will want to have that rider built into your policy. kew
