Looking for affordable health insurance in California?

Is there any way that an individual might be able to join an existing health insurande group? I am single, and my job does not offer insurance. I am 28 and healthy, but the costs of individual plans are out of my budget. I was just wondering if there was a better way to insure myself on the up and up.

  1. Good luck with that.
  2. If you have a low income, try state funded programs. If not, consider a high deductible health plan with a Health Savings account associated with it. The coverage is lower, yes, but so are the premiums. Jared Balis http://www.utahinsurance.org http://www.healthinsuranceinutah.com
  3. If you live in the Inland Empire, there is the Inland Empire Health Plan for low-income people.
  4. There are a variety of health plans out there. But the thing to remember is that there is NO one perfect plan for people. I have a health supplement for injuries to me and my family and it only costs $40.00/month. My son needed a trip to the ER just last week because a door slammed on his finger, tearing it open. He is going to be ok, but the bill is going to be around $1400!!!!! My $40.00 plan is going to pay the whole bill! Its one of the best plans for uninsured people. You are always at risk for anything, but most young people fear health bills by accidents rather than diseases. There are also plans you can obtain for about 50/month that that will cover doctor visits and ER rooms for any reason.
  5. I found interesting information about your answer I found good and cheap insurance companies around your area Here: http://all-insurance-online.blogspot.com/2007/08/health-insurance.htmlGood luck!
  6. In some states—I believe California is one—an insurance broker can bring together individuals into a small group that qualifies for a group plan. Consult with a local insurance broker. To find one, log on to a website like http://www.healthinsurancewiz.com and fill out a form requesting a quote. Your info will be sent to a broker in your area who will contact you. A broker works with several health insurance companies, and can find the best deal for you. There is no charge for the service and no obligation to buy.
  7. I get my care via Compassionate Care Clinic. I only pay $25 whenever I have a health problem (very rarely) and nothing else. I have been more than satisfied by their care. Check them out. The link is in my sources section.
  8. Blue Cross in California offers a plan targeted to younger, healthier people. It's call Tonik. Go to their website. I believe you can even apply online. Doesn't cover everything, but it gives you some piece of mind if you're worried about high costs associated with emergencies or hospitalization.
