Health Insurance with Hypertension?

I was diagnosed with high blood pressure a couple of years ago and now take medication for it to keep it controlled. I have been denied coverage because of my hypertension by both Humana and Blue Cross. My most recent reading was 145/76. This is the only thing on my record that is continuously getting me denied for coverage. Is there a health insurance carrier out there that would be likely to cover me just because of this one issue? I live in Tennessee and am a 25 yr old male. I am 6 foot and 250 lbs. I am currently exercising daily to get off the hypertension medication.

  1. Good luck getting health coverage in this country. We don't care about our citizens one bit. I was denied coverage when I was 23 for a stomach ailment and haven't been able to get insurance for 15 years. I usually just go overseas if I need something done. I have been denied jobs because they don't want to bring me into their insurance pools. The best bet is medicaid, just make sure you don't make any money or have any savings. This country is terrible I hate it. If Hillary Doesn't become president and doesn't get universal coverage for EVERYONE the really needs it I'm getting out of this place.
  2. Because it is a pre-existing condition, your outlook is bleak. Go onto one of the websites that allows you to put your info in for a half a dozen companpies. They will ask you about blood pressure, so they will be aware of it. If any are interested, they will contact you back.
  3. This is America. People at risk don't get coverage, only healthy people get it. Health insurance companies are created to make money. What did you think; that they were a government agency or something? Don't feel bad, I can't get it either and I was a paratrooper in the 82nd airborne. They said I would have had to apply to the VA before Jan. 2003. They said they shouldn't even be talking to me. I still get the burial flag though.
  4. Actually, you were denied because of the combination of the bp and your height/weight. Together, they are diabetes waiting to happen. Nevertheless, you need to talk with a local agent that represents all of the companies in your area. They will know the height and weight tables, and will know who may take you.
