Will the other provisions of Obama's Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act be repealed?

There is a major possibility that this could be repealed as part of the Republican's plan to cut spending in the welfare sector. The health-care has been rejected by several states but has been upheld three out of four times in the federal courts. A few innovations in health-care has happened (Effective as of Sept. 23, 2010) : - Individuals affected by Medicare Part D coverage gap received $250 in rebate. The coverage gap is an instance where the beneficiary exceeded his/her coverage limit and has pay out of their pocket. - Insurers cannot drop insurance from their policyholders when they get sick - Medicare was extended to rural areas - Companies that provided benefits for people between 55-64 could join in a temporary coverage plan that cut down premium costs The other parts of the legislation haven't been effective yet: (Effective 2013): - Individuals making in excess of $200,000 will pay a 0.9% tax (Effective 2014): - Insurers are prohibited from discriminating against or charging higher rates for any individuals based on pre-existing medical conditions Several seats are at stake for the 2012 congressional elections. This is why I'm asking this question (hopefully in a non-partisan way).

  1. Hopefully the whole damn thing.
  2. maybe, its a hard choice, considering i dont know anything
  3. -The $250 rebate was only available in 2010. -Insurance companies have never been able to drop someone when they get sick. This is one of the biggest fallacies told. They have been able to drop someone who lied on the application. That has not changed but it takes more for the insurance company to prove that they lied. -Medicare has been in rural areas since 1965. The only difference is doctors in rural areas are getting additional money to lure them to those rural areas. -There is no temporary coverage plan for those in this age range. There is a temporary coverage plan, called the PCIP, for those of any age under 65 who have a pre-existing condition -The tax will be place on individual making over $30K per year. Those making less will receive a tax credit. The $ limit for the tax credit will increase for each member in the family so that a family of 4 will be able to make up to $80,000. -currently, in states where everyone pays the same, the premium is much higher in general than in states that allow differences in premium. If we are going to do this we should make everyone pay the same auto insurance, life insurance, and home insurance.
