What is your opinion of Aetna’s health insurance policies?

  1. My answer will be the same for all three of your questions. I like Human, Aetna, and United Healthcare. I have clients with each of them and I personally own one of them. It's not important which one I own, because one of the carriers doesn't sell in my state and the other carrier isn't competitive in my state. So, to answer your question. What our opinion of those three carriers is really of no use to you. What we can tell you is that you need to call a health insurance broker that does business in your state. They'll be able to explain the benefits of each, let you know which ones are competitive where you live and help you apply. Insurance brokers are free, so find a good one and use them to help you find coverage. And, if you have trouble down the road, having one will be invaluable as they'll know who to talk to in order to have your problem fixed. Smart consumers use brokers.
  2. Humana, Aetna, and United Healthcare are all major players in the Health Insurance industry. They all offer a wide variety of plans, from crappy but cheap limited benefit plans, to pretty darned good comprehensive but expensive plans. If you're trying to choose between them, shop based on coverages first, then price, and lastly based on the physician network.
