How could I get a dental insurance without having to relate in dental field?

I have only joined the union and I need to work 46 hours per 2 weeks in a retail store to get dental insurance which only the head manager has.

  1. Dental insurance covers very, very little - even in unions. You're just as well off paying out of pocket.
  2. You just buy it. It runs $25-$40 a month for an individual depending on where you live. Paying out of pocket is an option, but I'd rather pay 20% of $60 for a filling over paying my dentist the $120 he charges. Couple that with some vision benefits and it's a decent deal. If nothing else, it forces the dentist to charge me less than he'd charge a cash patient. I have a dental PPO through Ameritas Dental Insurance.
