Medical/travel insurance for trip to Paris?
I am going to Paris but am unsure what I need in order to go. I have a passport but am unsure about medical or travel insurance. Do I require these both and if so how do I go about getting them. Thanks http://proxyorg.cn/travel-insurance.html

- Whenever I travel domestically or internationally, I use Travelguard. I first found them thru my travel agent, but you can also get quotes and buy online. Medical insurance is included as well as trip interruption, flight delay, lost luggage, etc. It's a comprehensive plan and usually only costs around $100 for every $2500 of trip you insure. They send you tags with your specific travel # for your luggage, passport, camera, etc with a number to call if lost and an offer of reward. I apply those to the back side of my address tag on my bags and them cover it with clear tape to keep it waterproof. Now, for the medical insurance, international medical insurance doesn't work the same way as your own at home. You usually have to pay up front, they won't bill you. So make sure you take a credit card with several hundred in reserve, or an emergency card. You get a receipt and as much info as you can and they will reimburse your expenses. If you don't have enough to pay first, you must call the insurance # to find out what to do. All of them work this way. I can also tell you that filing a claim with Travelguard was easy and painless. I was delayed in NYC due to a cancelled flight on the way home and made a claim for our hotel room that night. Now, I didn not have to call them first, we just found a room and went there. I faxed them the info they requested and in less than 2 weeks, I had a check. I've used them again since. I can't speak highly enough of them. They also include an internatinal number where you call and they'll try to help you with just about anything. Also, make sure you take your policy with you, as well as a copy. In fact, when I travel internationally, I always take a pouch (I use a bank bag type I got at Walmart) with a copy of our passports, driver's licenses, my policy, credit cards (front and back so I have the #s to call), and a copy of everything I'm doing (hotel ressies, excursion vouchers, rail tiks, plane tickets) and an emergency phone # list in case something happnes to my group and no one can tell who to call for me in case anything gets lost or stolen. Then whoever doesn't have the originals carries it in their carry on, and it gets put in the safe once we get there. Just make sure you put it in the bottom of the bag so it can't be pulled out easily. I also make the same copies and leave them in a specific place in the house. That way, I can always call the person caring for my animals to retrieve it and fax me a copy if needed. (yes I'm anal...teehee) Have a great trip!!!
