I don't have medical insurance because my employer doesn't provide, how can I get dental insurance ? ?
My question is (because right now I'm concerned with my oral health more) are there any companies such as aetna, ect that will allow you to get on their dental program without having to be on their health insurance? I really need dental attention but honestly can't afford it

- a lot more companies like Aetna go on the net to find them just type in dental insurance
- Yes, you can buy individual dental insurance plans. Keep in mine that they will exclude all but routine work for the first 12 months.
- Just google dental insurance!
- Talk to your dentist and see what plans they accept. The one I'm most familiar with is Delta Dental, but there are many others as well. Keep in mind that even the best dental insurance has limits. For example, mine only covers the first $1000 of restorative work (crowns, bridges, etc.) If you can't afford your share of the procedure, look into GE Care Credit.
- You can buy it from a private company but make sure you understand the coverage as it will be limited and not cover your dental expenses 100%.
- You can purchase dental insurance on your own. If you cant afford insurance, look into dental plans that are cheaper. You can try a dental school with a student dentist. There are no other answers for you. You have to get the work done and make payment arrangements.
- Sure, you can get private dental insurance, but it's extremely limited in what it covers, because MOST people don't buy it, until they have a lot of dental work they want to get done! Typicially, you'll be paying $25 a month, and get two cleanings a year. You'll have limited coverage for cavities, up to $250 a year or so, but for everything else - crowns, root canals, oral surgery, there's a one year waiting period before ANY of it is covered, AND, they usually only pay 50%, UP TO $1000. So if you have $5,000 of dental work to get done, the MOST they'll pay is $1,000, and you'll have to wait a year after buying dental insurance befor it will be covered at all. However, the "network discount" would be valid instantly, so it might be worth it to buy it, because your discount will almost certainly be more than the $26 monthly premium cost.
- You should still have health insurance. Insurance is funny in the way that you can't choose to get it when you need it. Case in point, had you had dental insurance then your current issue would already be covered. You say you can't afford it, but who pays for your Internet service? Health insurance is slightly more important than Facebook.
- Dental insurance does not cover everything. You usually have to pay 20-50% of the cost of what you needed. And the insurance usually does not pay more than $1000 or so, so if you need more than that, you pay for the rest yourself. If you need more dental attention than you can afford, then you might not be able to get what you need, even with insurance.
