Scan Medical Insurance

Looking for a dental insurance (individual) in minnesota, any suggestions?

Already have a crappy insurance from work. So i don't qualify for most low income, state based insurance. Any suggestion on what I could go for?

  1. For most people dental insurance is a waste of money because dental bills are never catastrophic like medical. Medical bills can run into the tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. Dental bills are usually in the hundreds and on rare occasions thousands. It's rare that your dental bills will cost more than your insurance premiums if the premiums are not subsidized by your employer. For most people looking for dental insurance as an individual the best solution is to purchase a dental discount plan. It's not insurance, you pay everything yourself, but the dentists charge the patient the same amount they would charge an insurance company for treatment, frequently less than half of what they would charge if you weren't a member of the discount plan.
  2. Most dental plans could also be considered" crappy" insurance as they only assist you in paying for your dental bills. They usually have annual limitations of a $1000 and pay only for a percentage of the procedure charges. They are good for a maintenance plan as they will pay for your annual cleaning and check ups.
  3. Look, individual dental insurance coverage is usually much, much crappier than the group plan through your work. Typically, it will have a one year waiting period, a $100 or $250 deductible, give you two cleanings, and only cover a maximum of $1,000 a year with you paying HALF the first $2,000 and all the rest, and no orthodontics. So for CHEAP dental care, you'll want to find a dental school near you.
