Where Is The Best Place To Get Travel & Medical Insurance?
For a trip to the USA?

- If I were coming to the US I would not buy any insurance at all. US doctors and hospitals charge probably about 3-times more than anywhere else in the world. I would make sure I had no medical problem before I came, and if I needed care when I was there, I would simply leave the country to a civilized country.
- Any GOOD insurer, make sure you tell them every little thing wrong with you, and get enough to cover you for anything that might happen to you. Enjoy.
- If you want it cheap go to a bank, the post office or one of the big supermarkets. But I have just taken insurance for a trip to go to the Dominican Republic and chose to go to an insurance broker. I have worked for a high street bank (30 years) and a broker (10 years) and i would always choose a broker for this. They will make sure you get the right cover. Paying a little over the odds for a comprehensive policy is less of a waste of money than taking out a cheaper policy which will not pay out.
- Good lord....4 answers...all bad. You just need to get a "travel medical insurance" policy. Any good insurance broker will sell them right on their web site. After all, despite "Don's" opinion of coming here healthy, you might actually get injured or ill while you're here. If you want to cover trip costs (flight, hotel, etc... in case you can't go on the trip...then you'll need to buy that from your home country). Buying the health from a US company will otherwise better serve you and it won't make a difference to you if the doctor charges 3 times as much because you can buy a zero ($0) deductible plan.
