Do you legally have to declare having a medical cannabis card to your insurance company?
Does this prescription count just like every other medication? Do you legally have to declare having a medical cannabis card (or say that you use cannabis) to your insurance company? I live in California. My insurance is Blue Cross.

- if you want them to pay for it, yes.
- BlueCross does not pay for it nor do they need to know. Telling them will be opening a can of worms, you do not want to do this. Too many people are still ignorant to the effects of pot.
- Insurance is based on utmost trust. If you do not tell your insurance company about drugs you're taking they can (and will) withdraw cover because they will be unable to evaluate the risks of covering you. Think of it like not bothering to tell your car insurance company you had a DUI conviction and then trying to claim for an accident you had. What do you think they will do?
