Is it legal for our medical insurance to send my husband details of all my doctor visits?
I have medical insurance from my "common law" husbands work and the insurance company has been sending him a letter detailing all of my doctor visits. Is this legal? At very least it is a terrible violation of my privacy. Has anyone else had this issue?

- No it's not. You should write a letter to the hospital citing a violation of your HIPPA rights and threaten to sue if they don't cease and desist immediately.
- Call them and tell them! They can send a bill if he is the primary on the insurance but your details cannot be on the bill that is against the law. Do research on Hippa
- Actually it is legal. He has a right to know what he is paying for and a detailed bill is perfectly legal. If they are sending actuall hospital/doctor reports addressed to him that may be a different story, hippa pertains to hospital/nursing homes/doctors not insurance. If you want to keep complete privacy then you need separate insurance. I realized this when my dad knew I had a pregnancy test from the insurance bill and I was over 21
