what is the better health insurance, Cinergy or Assurant.?

  1. Cinergy is a limited defined benefit plan, not a major medical, whereas most of the Assurant plans are major medical plans. As an example, you are in the hospital for 5 days with medical charges of $150,000. The defined benefit plan will pay a certain dollar amount per day, which with one of their plans would be $300. This means they'll pay $1500 and you'll pay $148,500. With a major medical plan, after you pay the deductible and co-insurance the plan pays 100%. If you get the Assurant $5000 deductible with 0% co-insurance they'll pay $145,000 and you'll pay $5000. Big difference. Contact a local agent that works with all of the major plans in your area. The agent can help you find the best plan for your situation and budget. There is no charge using an agent. In my state the Assurant premium is a little higher than other companies with many of my clients.
