Are Progressives happy that the new Health Care bill will lead to Govt Care?

Now that Ins Cos including AARP are raising their rates, the theory is out there that more people are going to lose their insurance because of the high rates they have to pay thus forcing Govt to take the tab, eventually bringing in Govt run health care. Is this what Progressives want?

  1. I would be happy if "for profit" insurance was out of the healthcare business.
  2. No, because the bill doesn't do anything but benefit lobbyists and the health insurance industry. Seriously, the amount of people forced to buy into private insurance under this bill is going to be far more than those who get Govt assistance.
  3. Newsflash: Insurance companies were raising there rates long before the watered down gift of a healthcare bill was passed. I think the health insurance companies are leeches who stand between patients and there doctors and collect lots of money for doing just about nothing.
  4. Yup...
  5. Gibbering nonsense and fear-mongering.
  6. I don't know what "Progressives" are but I will try to answer your question. You are misinformed. Because of the new health care program everyone will be forced to carry insurance, ergo the cost will go down.
  7. The conservatives played their hand, and this is what we got. I would have been happier with a public option plan, strictly regulated. I am not personally sold on a single payer plan.
  8. I still don't see what's wrong with a government-run health care plan. It would give health insurance companies more competition.
  9. There are not enough rich people in the U.S paying taxes to cover the cost of a totally state run government health plan. We are rapidly becoming another Cuba.
  10. In 2014 you will be buying insurance at a price you can afford because it will be subsidized even for family of 4 who earn $88,000 and a tax credit. You can choose which company you want and what kind of benefits you want from basic to very inclusive. I dont see how government subsidy for private insurance purchase will turn into a government controlled health care plan. The government subsidizes private industries like agriculture, oil, gas, energy and used to subsidize tobacco. This insurance exchange means more people can afford to have health insurance. The rates have spiked this year in order to cover children and later adults, with pre-existing conditions. The government can do nothing to regulate those rates. That is regulated at the state level.
