I need cheap dental insurance not a discount plan?

I have to get a good cheap dental plan not a discount plan. Where can I get one or what can I do??? I have something that really needs to be taken care of fast.

  1. Google "dental insurance." You do realize, I hope, that most individual dental plans exclude all but preventive and "basic" care for the first 12 months of coverage?
  2. Ameritas Dental Insurance is the best dental insurance an individual can buy....there's only a few and this one is most like a group plan at reasonable rates. But, it doesn't sound like it'll do you any good. Ameritas isn't going to want to take $30-40 from you and then shell out $400 for half the cost a root canal. They put waiting periods on the coverage so you can't buy a plan, get a root canal (or other procedure), and then cancel the plan. You should buy the plan (if it's priced right in your area) so that in 12-18 months (depending on the plan) you'll have the coverage for major services. The plan I bought has a 3 month wait for preventative, 6 months for basic, and 18 for major, but I have no deductibles and it's good coverage. But, for now it sounds like you need a discount plan. Since they don't pay anything out, you can buy a discount plan at any time.
  3. All dental insurance, except some through an employer, will have a waiting period before you can get basic or major procedures covered. If you need something taken care of fast your best option would be a dental school, where you can get good service at a reasonable cost. Care is given by students who are supervised by real dentists. You can find the nearest school here: http://www.yourhealthplanadvisor.com/Dentalschools.html
  4. Even if you get a cheap dental insurance plan, you will have to pay, in full, yourself, for whatever already "really needs to be taken care of fast". The cheap dental insurance plan will not cover whatever already "really needs to be taken care of fast". It will cover only thing that can wait or that develop in the future.
  5. Dental insurance also has waiting periods. You should call a local independent insurance agent and see whats available in your state. If you have an urgent problem you can get a GE Care Credit dental credit card and use that right away, go to a dental school, or pay cash.
  6. What you're looking for, doesn't exist. Any kind of dental INSURANCE, will have a wait period before it covers work. And, it only covers a percentage of the work, not the full amount. That's because the only people that want to BUY dental insurance like that, suddenly, want it to file a claim, and then cancel it. The dental insurance companies have that figured out. You're probably better off finding a local dental school near you. You'll still have to pay - but it will be a LOT less.
