How can I use my insurance to get medical marijuana without my father finding out?

I live in california and I have medical insurance paid for by my father. I want to use that insurance to get a medical marijuana card and, of course, marijuana. I have suffered from social anxiety and depression my entire life. Maybe the marijuana could help me deal with these issues. I am not saying it will solve my problems but it might help. I am also more open to the marijuana as a prescription than whatever pharmaceutical drugs they usually prescribe.

  1. medical cocaine will help more
  2. You will have to ask your insurance co & the ppl with your medicine
  3. Medical marijuana is generally prescribed for long-term chronic pain in patients with conditions such as cancer or AIDS. I'm pretty sure no doctor is recommending it for anxiety or depression disorders. Have you spoken to your doctor about this? EDIT: I said nothing whatever about recommending antidepressants. All I said is that I don't think too many doctors in CA are prescribing medical marijuana for anxiety/depression. I stand by that statement.
  4. Insurance may not cover it anyways, because its not an actual perscription. If it will cover it, there is no way you can use their insurance for anything without them knowing. The doc cannot tell them what you were doing, but they will see the statement of benefits that explains the charges. @ rtfm - actually, med marijuana is used for a LOT of things, as it is a safer alternative to a LOT of narcotics, yes, including the narcotic benzos given for anxiety. I always find it hilarious when people say stuff like they just want to get high, because the narcotics I would be taking instead of med marijuana make most people far higher than mj. It also doesnt rewire the brain causing chemical dependency the way anti depressants do. Anti depressants are incredibly dangerous to stop taking, must be tapered off if the patient can go off them at all. Marijuana is not chemically addictive at all. Anti depressants take 4-6 weeks to start working where they will know if mj is going to help or not almost immediately. Now, marijuana is not the best medicine for every patient with anxiety and depression, just like celexa isnt the best med for every patient, and xanax isnt the best med for every patient, and penecillin isnt the best med for everyone. But yes, sometimes mj can be used for anxiety and depression, especially in the short term with controlled dosing.
  5. Insurance doesn't cover medical marijuana. You have to buy it yourself.
  6. No insurance will pay for pot - and self-prescribed pot is not the answer to "anxiety and depression." It's just a crutch to avoid dealing with it.
  7. You need a prescription to get medical marijuana. Insurance does not cover it, so you have to pay cash.
  8. You cannot use the insurance to get medical marijuana without your father find out, for two reasons: 1. You cannot use the insurance without finding out that you used it. In some cases, you can use it without him finding out what you obtained with it, but not without him finding out that you used it. 2. No one can use insurance to get medical marijuana, to get any marijuana, or to get a marijuana card. Although medical marijuana no longer prohibited by California state law, it is still prohibited by federal law. Although the federal government is not currently enforcing this law, it is still official in effect. No insurance can be used to obtain anything that is prohibited by either state or federal law, even if it is not prohibited by both or the law is not currently being enforced. Prior to anyone using insurance to obtain marijuana, the U.S. Congress (not the state of California or the President) would need to repeal the federal law.
  9. oh whatever you just want to get stoned! and insurance doesnt pay for pot, if you get a dr to buy your story and you get an rx for it you have to pay for it yourself.
