Child medical coverage in Texas?

I have a child 6 yrs old. Until today, he was under my wife's health plan. She worked for her company for 10yrs, and 6 months ago, she had a work related injury. She has had operations, and steroids shots, to alleviate her extreme pain, but nothing has worked. She has Herniated Disc. I live in Texas. My wife was on short term disability, but now she is under workmen comp. There is an organization "CHIPS INSURANCE'', that is run by the State Govt. They are asking for our income. I get $900 in Social Security. My wife is getting Workmen Comp checks. In the Chips Insurance Application Form, they want our gross salary. My question is this: Does her Workmen Comp Checks considered an INCOME? If not, is my Social Security Income the only item I have to declare on the CHIPS application form. Thank you. Your advise will be greatly appreciated

  1. Yes. Workers comp is considered income. Chip - children's health insurance program, is welfare health insurance. Keep in mind, there's a 90 day wait before benefits start.
