does aflac consider aggressive fibromatosis cancer?

I have recently been diagnosed with aggressive fibromarosis, which the medical community seem to be split on whether it's cancer or not. It causes tumors, aggressively attacks tissues and recurs in 70% of cases (cancer like). The treatment is also the same as if it were cancer. The thing that makes it not cancer is that it doesn't metastasize (spread to other parts of the body.) I have a cancer policy with Aflac that pays out a lump sum if I get an "approved" cancer diagnosis, This would help my family greatly, for obvious reasons. Medical bills are steep, and I can't work at the moment. Does anyone else have any experience with this particular disease? Did your insurance (disability, health, whatever kind) consider it cancer or not?

  1. I don’t know where you would get the impression the medical community was split on whether this is cancer or not, it clearly is not. It is a benign condition.
