Disabled with no medical insurance. Advice please.?
My doctors state I'm disabled to work. My husband makes too much for me to get welfare, SSI , and SSD requires work credits that I don't have. I worked well over 20 jobs in my life. Most ended badly. I'm just too frustrated to keep trying. I'm worried about my health. I looked into getting Aflac, BlueCross and Geisinger gold. My husband says we just can't afford it with all of our other bills. I feel helpless. Any suggestions? My husbands job offers insurance as well but it's not free. It's the same price as the other insurance companies. @Tigg I'm sorry to inform you. It does have requirements. SSI My husband needs to be making under 1100 a month for. SSD I need to have work credits. I been out of work now for 5 years. My credits are gone. :( I called every lawyer in my phone book. They all said that they can't help me because I don't meet the state requirements.

- If you are too disable to work then apply for Social Security Disability. This has no income or age requirement. Once approved medical insurance is provided by Medicare
- Get yourself a lawyer for disability! Yes I know you said you have no work credits but you also said you worked over 20 jobs as well. So something isn't right here! If you find the right lawyer you do NOT have to pay unless you win your case. And if he or she feels that they can not win your case they won't take it and you own absolutely nothing! It's worth the try!!! Good luck!
- Once you're disabled, no health insurance company is going to give you health insurance. Your ONLY choices are Medicaid (welfare health insurance, which you say you do not qualify for), or getting added to your husband's policy, which he doesn't want you to do. Your state might have a high risk health insurance pool, but that's going to cost WAY more than the coverage through your husband's employer. When you turn 65, you can apply for Medicare, based on your husband's earnings.
- You have to have some insurance. I advise you to join your husband's group insurance plan. The benefits and deductible are probably better than an individual policy. I can only suggest going to a community clinic that may be either in a university setting, a hospital, or by itself in the community. They charge on a sliding scale. The is no alternative. Regardless of what your doctors says, you can keep trying to find a job that won't upset you. Maybe housekeeper or elderly care? Have you ever had psychotherapy? It might help and would give you the extra money you need for insurance.
