Scan Medical Insurance

Is it legal for my mom to still have me on her Aflac insurance? (Kinda Long Sorry)?

Hello all, I'm not sure if you all know about the insurance Aflac, but my mother has had me, my younger sister, her, and my step dad on that insurance every since I was 15 years old. I am 21 now about to turn 22 this summer, and the other day I called her and talked to her on the phone to tell her about a minor accident I had recently had in my car ( I'm okay), and she joked that I should have went through emergency because she would have gotten paid by Aflac. I found this kind of odd because my mother and I DO NOT get along that well. Every since I've turned 18, my boyfriend has been helping me take care of myself, and she doesn't give me financial help what so ever. She even claimed me on her taxes after I turned 18 without asking me, even though I asked her not too because she doesn't do anything for me! I really do try to get along with her and talk to her a lot, because I don't want to be regret not spending time with her before she passes away, but she just isn't treating me fairly (in my opinion). I am a full time student, I am not her dependent, I have not lived with her in over three years, and I think she may have put on her forms that I still live with her. I'm sorry to rant, but I guess my question is does she need my signature to still be on her Aflac insurance? (Because if so, I'm pretty sure she may have forged my signature.) If so, is there any legal way to ask her to take me off, because if I got into a major accident, I know for a fact she would not help me with any medical bills (she hasn't in the past). Any insight would help. Thanks for your time. I'd really appreciate any answers. :-)

  1. Oh I think she is cheating and if you want to know you should ask her about it. Seems like she would be stupid enough to tell you. If she won't then call Aflac and ask them, just tell them in simple terms without all the details. You are almost 22 yrs old have not lived at home in 3 years but you suspect your mother has listed you on her policy and you want to know if she is allowed to do that without your permission and can they check into it and get you removed. In addition if she is claiming you on her taxes then I assume you have not recieved a refund? Contact your local irs office and ask them about it.
  2. In most cases a person can be on their parent's insurance policy until age 22 and possibly longer is they are a full time student.
  3. Didn't you ask this yesterday? If you're added to her group policy through her employer, your signature isn't needed. But then she's PAYING for it, too.
