Canceling a health insurance plan? How to?
Anyone know how to cancel a Aetna health insurance plan? Tried calling earlier--keep getting redirected... Logged into my account via aetna's member login. Can't find anything. Newly enrolled in college which provides more affordable plans...Just can't handle the cost and can get something just as equally sufficient for a cheaper.

- Dial the number for customer service and keep hitting 0 for operator. You will get a human. Also send a letter of cancellation by certified, return receipt requested through the mail Keep a copy of the letter and the receipt in a safe secure place. This way if they attempt to sue you for payment you have your proof
- Have you tried doing it online? Is this a group insurance plan? If so, you have to do it at work. It is possible you can only cancel during the open enrollment period
- First and foremost, the odds that your college plan is 'better' is slim. I've NEVER seen that and I've been doing this for 18 years. College plans are VERY limited and usually espensive. To answer you question, you just stop paying for it and it'll cancel itself.
- If it's an employer plan, you must do so through the employer. If it's an individual plan, you do so directly with the insurer. Call their customer service number and find out.
