Adding a medical condition to travel insurance?

I've got a bad knee at the moment which is starting to play up, i've got travel insurance out for my holiday in June. If I go to the doctor to get my knee checked would I have to notify my insurance company so they can amend the insurance, if so would there be extra costs and would my knee be covered when on holiday?

  1. Travel insurance rarely covers pre-existing conditions, so it is likely that any issues with your knee would be excluded from the policy. If you have already seen or intend to see a doctor about it then it would be classed as a pre-existing condition. Check the small print on the insurance and see what it says about pre-existing conditions - pay special attention to anything under the heading of "exclusions".
