Can I request a female TSA agent to view my full body scan?

  1. You have to have the scan in order to travel, it is up to you to decide if you are willing to put up with this invasion of privacy... but, by all means ask for a female agent; no one wants you to be uncomfortable and if there is time and a suitable agent available...and if you ask politely, I am sure that you will be accommodated. If not..these agents are going to be looking at thousands of scans a week and you should try to think of them as you do of a doctor examining you or your x-rays only with greater anonymity as you are most unlikely to ever meet this person and if you did, they would not recognise you or you them.
  2. If you have to do a full body scan, probably yes.
  3. I don't think so - the people who view the scan are in a different location in the airport - or maybe not even at the airport. I don't think that the TSA person guiding you into the scanner would know who is going to be viewing it. It shows up on a screen, and whoever is in front of the screen looks at it. If you do not want to go through the body scanner, then you can request a pat down and alternative screening to avoid the entire issue.
  4. I wouldn't worry about it. You certainly can, but the person viewing the image is in a secluded room where they can't see the security lines, and, in fact, he or she isn't allowed to leave that room unless absolutely needed or their shift is over. The images are not saved on the machine as they have no internal memory and no external ports. The TSA agents see thousands of these images a day. The truth is they really don't care about looking at your body. Their job is looking for suspicious items and they focus on that. But if you're really that concerned, go ahead and ask. If they are nice they might see what they can do.
