1. Well, your new dentist can tell them right off. He'll note any noot canals, cavities, work you've had done. If he finds a cavity right off, that's a pre exisitng condition. The insurance companies only care when you file a claim for a pre-exisitng.
2. There are several ways. For instance if you need a bridge to replace tooth, when the dentist sends in a pre op x-ray, they can see if you already have a tooth missing. Many dental insurances don't have a pre existing clause.
