Scan Medical Insurance

I am now paying $200 for major medical with 6K deductable, how can't people afford insurance?

and this major medical covers some office visits if I need them too and 100% medical on all other major incidents ..Sure the 6K deductable is high but it isn't outragous if something severly went wrong with my health...SO, why can't people who don't have health insurance afford this ? Most these people who can't afford it smoke 2 packs a day and have 100 dollar cell phone bill and cable and what have you....THEY CHOOSE TO LET GOVERNMENT PAY FOR IT.....THAT IS BS! 6K bankrupting most people is a joke right? American Republic Insurance. My Dad had same insurance and it covered over 1 million dollars so far in his claims over the years of hospital. NO NO NO!! I PAY 200 a month..that is total bill...I am self employed! im 45 yrs old...come again...you LIBS Are nuts!

  1. Totally agree. I have major medical insurance as well.
  2. I sympathize. Youre lucky, in Jersey they won't allow coverage like that. That's why the first thing we need is insurance sold across state lines.
  3. The idea of Obamacare is that those who can afford insurance will have to buy insurance rather than freeload, while those who can't afford insurance will receive subsidies from the government so that those with insurance don't have to cover the cost of treating those without insurance. Also, if you had a pre-existing condition, your costs would probably be higher, and if your insurance does not cover preventative care, it means that you're one of those who more likely to wait until you're quite sick before seeing the doctor, which tends to be costly.
  4. Your right they would rather smoke pot and spend money on that- or spend money on going out to the bars chain smoking and buying new clothes everyday! Ever notice most those SEIU people - are smokers! No wonder they have conditions!
  5. Might help if you named the insurer. If an insurer were named I could tell you exactly how someone couldn't afford that.
  6. A 6k deductible is enough to bankrupt most people and is actually a terribly exploitative plan. They're taking your payments to pay for the needs of their higher-classed patients and are more likely to rescind your coverage as a result. You're also limited to the hospitals and area you can visit because of "back-room" deals between your insurance company and local area hospitals. If you were to get hurt on vacation your insurance may not cover your treatment since you are "out of network" which is a horrid abomination. I'm saying this as a person who gets medical coverage at $90 a month with a 1k deductible. The system is broken for most people and needs to be fixed.
  7. Do you have a family, with children? And how old are you? And why do you assume that every one without health insurance smoke, or live a unhealthy life style.
  8. a lot of people have preexisting conditions, and even if they are living healthy otherwise, they either cannot get insurance, or cannot afford it.
  9. You are paying $200 per pay check and your employer is paying the remaining $900 per pay period. So, imagine if you were on the hook for the entire $2200 per month? Could you afford that? In your present job, you could afford it if you cut back by $1800/month in other areas. Cutting out $1800/month might be tougher than you think! That's a lot fewer meals in restaurants, less entertainment and perhaps a car payment as well. Ah, but you are single, no? So cutting out entertainment means less dating and less chance of you marrying and mating. So, you could expect your health care cost to remain $200/pay check as long as you aren't fired or your company closes shop. And isn't that just the saddest part of the whole thing? Your health costs won't zoom up until you reach 40, then 50 and beyond. And your employer will take notice of the increased premium your lonely life is costing.
