how to get health insurance for senior US resident living in Houston, Texas?
She is 68 years old, has lived in the US as a resident for one year. She is not eligible for medicare or medicaid because she is not in the low income target population and for medicare she has to be living in the US for at least five years. In Texas, like many other states, they don't sell private insurance to seniors. Does anyone know of any kind of insurance that we can buy for her, public or private?

- You might get more/better answers if you post this in the "health" category rather than the travel category. But I'd suggest looking for some type of social service agency for seniors [look in the blue section of your phone book or under "Social Services" in the yellow pages] - they should have advice.
- healthquotes.awardspace.info - my family have this health insurance. It is affordable and has good coverage for dental issues.
- http://www.texashealthoptions.com/cp/seniors.html http://www.tdi.state.tx.us/health/lhiah_lst_incl.html Start there. The site lists 20+ companies who sell insurance in Texas. Who is the "they" that does not sell private insurance to seniors? Someone will sell it. You may think it costs too much but that is a different story.
