Why is it that Muslims expect themselves to be exempted from full body scan at airports..?
The world is in danger and how can muslims risk their and others lives by not complying to full body scan at airports. What is the need to make unnecessary drama over the issue and make a fatwa over it? In this case, the scanned image is viewed only by the operator,a lady for women and male operator in case of men..So where does the issue arise? By issuing such fatwas, aren't muslims trying to alienate themselves from the rest of the society by inviting unnecessary criticisms? Afterall,it is our country and its security should matter to us.. What is your thought? Salam to all sisters and brothers @most muslims are mislead : And we are adding fuel to the plot by doing stuff that will make people feel that we have something to hide and hence distrustful.. @She said and Juvegirl..Even i don't like body scan. We personally know that we are innocent, but how can the security officer sitting there know that?Through astrology or some sort of mind mechanism? Scannig is a physical process of examining and making sure that you are not a potential attacker. Without checking, how will one know whether you are carrying anything wrong or not? Also,non-muslims,both men and women are undergoing this,as we do.If they can cooperate for a better cause, why can't we? I don't think that non-muslims are keen on exposing their body to all people around.Just the way we are modest, they too are modest. Immodest people are among there muslims,as well as others too.. So the whole argument of modesty protection is saying that everybody except muslims are immodest and that is unfair and rude..

- How else would the baddies smuggle bombs on eh?
- Perhaps, like other kinds of theists, they think that their religious beliefs give them a valid reason to be exempted from laws and regulations that everyone else has to abide by. If so, they're wrong.
- all those airports searches are scam= scare tactics to make you guys at fear, body details are not meant to be shown in uk they say it is illegal
- It is very ironic considering it is because of Muslims that these scans are even needed. If they don't submit to having them done, then they shouldn't be allowed to fly. You are right about the unnecessary drama. Some Muslims feel they are more "righteous" than the rest of the world. They don't even take into consideration the possibility that "infidels" aren't too thrilled with this idea either, but we care about the safety of other people. Maybe Muslims shouldn't fly if they cannot put the welfare of people first.
- Well, I'm not Muslim, but I wouldn't want a full body scan. I think it's gross. I don't care if it's a man or a woman, why would I want a total stranger looking at my body? Maybe some women don't mind, but I do. I consider it a privacy invasion. If I wanted strangers to look at my body, I'd be a stripper. The fact that I'm a law abiding citizen with a mundane day job and no ties to any terrorist organization is apparently totally irrelevant: Should I be treated like a hardened criminal because I want to see the Eiffel Tower? Personally I don't think these scans are going to do anything. If someone is determined to do something, they will find a way. These scans are merely a scare tactic on one side and a further reduction of people's rights and freedoms on the other. Soon we'll be a totalitarian state with no rights all in the name of "personal safety".
- Just like DNA samples and ID cards, the innocent parties are inconvenienced, but this is the price we pay for living in a "free" society. It always amazes me,that those who promote civil liberties and a multi-cultural world are the ones that shout the loudest when asked to help keep the status quo.
- I am not asking preferential treatment at any airport but to be viewed naked by anyone but your spouse is against Islam. It is not only against Islamic peoples human rights but it violates every ones rights to privacy and human rights. Regardless of being a Muslim or not I would still object as do all the non Muslims I know. Its MY country and its MY body and no one is viewing it without MY permission. You dont like that TOO bad! I am not putting anyone at risk I have flown countless times passed all MY countries security checks and those are sufficient as far as I am concerned and PS I am at as much risk as anyone else of a terror attack be it on a plane, train, boat, bus, underground, walking past a parked car etc etc are they going to full body scan everyone who gets on a bus now? Its beyond ridiculous! Against HUMAN rights ALL HUMANS are we Muslims not HUMANS too? The Equality and Human Rights Commission seem to think it against everyones human rights and I agree, just because I am a Muslim does not mean I cannot have an opinion on an issue that I can object to both without and outside of my faith. If I was not a Muslim I would still feel it was 100% against my and everyone elses HUMAN RIGHTS. http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal/world-news/uk-full-body-airport-scanners-raise-human-rights-fears_100305613.html http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal/world-news/uk-full-body-airport-scanners-raise-human-rights-fears_100305613.html EDIT How will they know? Same way they have known up till now. We still go through scanners and security checks have you never flown anywhere? You have to take your shoes off, coat off, bags off, keys, phones etc all in a tray that go through one scanner as you THE PERSON go through another, then if something beeps you are further checked and if not you go through and put your shoes, coat etc all that have been checked back on. Many times I have had my bag emptied everything and I mean everything taken out underwear and all and they have run a cloth over the lining and tested it and NOTHING...I am more than happy for all these checks someone seeing my breasts and vagina are not part of the deal!
- Because Islam is a Religion of Peace. Peaceful people do not destroy airplaes in mid air
- "The world is in danger and how can muslims risk their and others lives by not complying to full body scan at airports. What is the need to make unnecessary drama over the issue and make a fatwa over it?" Risk lives? You mean by wasting time on technology that was proven to not work from the get go? Maybe also because we, as U.S citizens have rights and expectations that those rights will be preserved. "In this case, the scanned image is viewed only by the operator,a lady for women and male operator in case of men..So where does the issue arise? " Privacy. A strip search doesn't change because it is digitized. Considering how stupid a sizeable portion of the TSA is, I wouldn't trust them to tell me the time. ~_~ "By issuing such fatwas, aren't muslims trying to alienate themselves from the rest of the society by inviting unnecessary criticisms?" It isn't just Muslims who are complaining, and in many ways they are not alone - and nobody should stop from speaking up because they feel like their rights are being violated - sure would defeat the purpose of those coming to / living in America. " Afterall,it is our country and its security should matter to us.." Keyword: security, and not the security theater we have now. "What is your thought?" The TSA is a joke, and we are wasting time by focusing on tech that doesn't work instead of improving intelligence - and communication between the various agencies.
- It is in their belief that they have not done any wrong doing.
