How often do i need to undergo full body scan?

as u know early detection of cancer can save your life. the best way to detect this is via MRI or PET-CT scans which are not 100% neutral to health how often do i need to do them to make sure i do not detect cancer at the stage where it's too late?

  1. This is a question for your doctor, unless you have some sort of symptoms or cancer runs in your family then I'm sure there is no need to do specific scans for cancer, because there are so many types of cancer you might end up doing multiple random tests and maybe for no reason
  2. Full body scans are not typically recommended for disease screening, e.g. when you are not having any symptoms. The reason is that there has been insufficient research done on how accurate full body scans are to determine when they should be done. Remember, no test is harmless. Aside from any danger from the test itself (minimal with MRI, significant with PET), it is important to remember the major risk from any test is the possibility of a false-positive. While this does not sound bad, false-positives result in potentially painful, invasive and risky follow-up tests that have suddenly become a requirement, as well as the associated cost and anxiety of these tests. Currently, the only conditions that physicians recommend routine screening in individual adults with no symptoms are: - breast cancer - uterine/cervical cancer - high blood pressure - prostate cancer - colon cancer Additionally, many physicians recommend cholesterol screening, but this is still controversial. Remember, this is for adults WITHOUT any symptoms. If you have any new symptoms, this could be a reason for a physician to recommend more detailed screening tests. As always, discuss these and any questions with your doctor.
