Did anyone see that piece that WGBH did on Health Insurance around the world?

Did you know that Japan, and Germany has a better health insurance system than the United States? Why can't we develop a system that is just efficient? Obama's is the closes to a universal plan, but it doesn't set the prices for healthcare, which needs to be done e.g., doctors in Germany can only profit up to 80,000 dollars a year and cost is monitored via government. Japan's government monitors their peoples healthcare system, while keeping cost at a low premium e.g., they use an ID card which a patient would carry that hold all his medical history on it. This cuts administration cost dramatically. If you loose your job in Germany, you don't have to pay anything for health cost, and your health plan stays the same. When compared to our COBRA plan, it seems too good to be true, while it is! Obama if he is going to be a true answer to America's revolution, should study these systems and come up with something to save healthcare, because it is becoming a PIG-OF-COST on American families who just cannot see a way out, while trying to stay above the line of health. Obama, you will be the next president, but what will you do to make a difference? what will your legacy be as the first Afican-American President? Make the reforming of the bust-up healthcare system your task!

1. the US could have had a gold-plated health care system for less than the cost of the Iraq war, and many times less than the bailout. But the money's gone. Priorities are funny things.
2. Yes I saw that earlier this year. VERY interesting isn't it? My favorite profile was the British doctor who became ill while visiting the US. His comments were very interesting.

6. F__k universal healthcare. That will happen when Hell freezes over. This broke nation will never have universal healthcare. Its every man for himself. You have to be rich or you have to be poor to get healh insurance. If your just middle class good luck making health insurance payments. The gov't doesnt give a damn about whether or not Americans can afford health insurance. Hell this nation was built on greed and things will stay that way. NOT ONE of those politicians can come up with a good solid health care plan so that it could at least be somewhat cheaper.
7. I read this line cost is monitored via government. Japan's government monitors Dude this is America,obama wants to make this a communist country and the government make you do what they tell you,I pay taxes to run the government, not for the government to run me!!
8. No President can change the American health care system. They just do not have that ability. 5 times, national health care plans, have been before Congress. In each of the 5 times, Democratic majority Congress's, have blocked the Bills in Committee, And refused to allow them to be voted on. The American people will not stand for the federal government, controlling how much Doctors make each year. Because today it is Doctors, tomorrow it would be for everyones job.

I don't know who or what WGBH is but I came to a reality of my own yesterday when I recieved notice that my supplemental health insurance premium would more than double from $164.00 a month to $340.00 a month. This is in addition to the cost of Medicare. I can accept a lower cost plan, which is what I'll have to do, but it won't cover nearly what my original plan did. What is a senior citizen on a fixed income going to do? I've been in this insurance for over 30 years, it is partially subsidized by the State I worked for and retired from. It has never been free, even while working I paid premiums,
