So no Health plan - how do we handle the 30% premium increase?
The cost of health care and medical insurance has continued to climb and has more than doubled in the last 10 years. One of the major concerns with the Health Care plan was to provide all of us with affordable health care and insurance by keeping costs of both medical care and insurance in check. The two parts, health care and insurance companies, continue to point fingers at each other saying the other is too blame for the increasing costs; it makes no difference who is too blame - the consumer, you and I, are the ones having to pay it and they are the ones getting rich with it. Now - one of the insurance companies has announced they are going to have to raise their premium costs 30% to cover the increased costs of health care. Now that the HC bill is all but dead we can see the insurance companies pushing their costs up. Any ideas on how we are going to handle these increases? I am not working, I have used up almost all my savings, have cut back on everything I can cut back on, keep my furnace at 62 degrees through the day and 52 at night and now only eat two light meals a day. I am probably better off than a lot of people but we need to do something to stop these continual price increases - not only health care and insurance but groceries and everything else that seems to be going out of site - WHAT CAN WE DO?

- i dont know
- Get a group of friends together and start a letter writing campaign to your local representative, senator, and governor. Ask them the very questions you have posted here. Demand an answer and remind them that you are register voters. The more letters that flood their desks the quicker our voices will be heard. Even write a letter to the president and vice president. Send letters to the editor of your local newspaper calling for other voters to do the same. We need to become squeaky wheels.
- write your congress rep and senators and tell them about your situation and ask them to help get national health insurance established
- Not a thing until the people that we vote in time and time again are replaced with people that actually give a crap. You don't really think that the government wants to help do you? They want us to do as we are told and they will take care of us. The only way to do that is if everybody is down and out and needs help. Then they will only give us enough to maintain, not climb out of the hole. Unless you have connections, your screwed. That health bill by the way would have lifted one of the biggest benefits that company's can offer. Company's don't need it right now because of the job market. The way the whole thing was designed, company's would have jacked up our share of the premiums and nobody would have been able to afford it. Therefore flooding the system just like they did in Ma, and costing billions of dollars which would have lead to more tax hikes to pay for it which would lead to more layoffs and higher cost of living and more that needed government insurance. The cycle continues.
