What do you think about full body scans in airports?
With this new terrorist suspect being caught and supposedly had explosives sewn in to his underwear. Would you object to full body scans at airports? Is this invasion of privacy worth it for public safety on airports? Thoughts?

- I think it's less intrusive than some stranger groping you. If it's also more effective, then I have no problem with it
- I don't like the cold metal thing they stick in your butt.
- Where do we draw the line here? What's next a cavity search too? "Security" procedures at the airport are enough as it is, there are people who have had surgeries with metal pins in their bodies and unless you can design some scanning tool that wont remove them on impact it would be impossible.
- Only for people who are traveling to another country. If you do it on domestic flights, it will kill the aviation industry.
- The suspects own father reported his son's activities to United States Embassy six months ago. The father was surprised that after his reports to the US authorities, the suspect was allowed to travel to the United States. Homeland Security isn't even following the safe guards they have in place and now they're imposing more rules.
- Security should not be compromised at any cost.
- It appears to have become a necessary inconvenience. Those who make the scanners will profit (as they should) and airline passengers will pay the price - literally. A sad state of affairs.
- people will stop travelling by air for one hour flight check in time will be 3 hours Secondary : high exposure to X-rays would case damage to body cells elevating the risk of cancer a good way to make people travel on ground I am sure the same check may be introduced in Bus and train travel
- hate it very much
- Grandma rather enjoys the full body scans--especially when her pacemaker sets off all the bells and whistles! @ Sarah: You sound like a sweet, level-headed girl. Grandma invites you over for some homemade pie and coffee!
- The way I look at it is that there is no human right to be able to fly on commercial airlines. So if you CHOOSE to do it, you accept the regulations that are in place for your safety.
- if anyone does not want to be scanned they don't need to fly i support any security method that keeps me and others safe from islamic terrorists
- Why not just strip everyone of all belongings and give them a bathrobe to wear during the flight. To make sure they do nothing 'strange', they could have their hands chained to the seat. All bathroom trips under armed escort. No food or drinks served to prevent passengers from using eating utensils as weapons. The knee jerk reaction of most people on this site and the the screeches to rob all passengers of human dignity and respect is more frightening. More planes go down due to pilot error and drunkenness than from ay other cause. It was Ben Franklin who said, 'He/She who will sacrifice liberty for security deserves neither'.
- It seems he had the explosives not sewn into his underwear but in a body cavity, not going to say the word don't want to be reported for mentioning the place. So I don't know would these xray machines detect things inside the body. Well that is the report going around at the moment he had it where the sun don't shine.
- I have no problem with it. You have seen one body, you have seen them all. "The Girls" are spilling out all over already so a little more exposure is not a problem.
