Can you deduct medical expenses on a NJ tax return?

I always had to pay out of pocket for my medical bills (doctor's visits, etc.) because I am unemployed and my COBRA health insurance only covers a certain percentage. Can I deduct any of what I paid for these medical expenses on my tax return?
