How Much Was AARP Paid To Endorse The Health Bill?

AARP is now endorsing the health care bill. How much do you think they stand to gain for this endorsement? AARP has come under attack in recent weeks for its considerable earnings from insurance royalties -- more than $650 million from the sale of insurance policies, credit cards and other products. I also noticed they have a new AARP Health Insurance available mid November.

Public Comments

  1. Nothing.
  2. Unless you come up with proof, not innuendo, you are just spreading rumors
  3. AARP has become an insurance sales company. EVERYONE will have to buy some kind of supplemental insurance to cover all that the Obamacare bill will not cover. Looks like they stand to make billions.
  4. It is amazing what a little bashing might do.
  5. Nothing. It will benefit senior citizens, as well as the rest of us.
  6. Whatever it is, I'm sure it's not even CLOSE to what Republican lawmakers are being paid by insurance companies to fight against it...
  7. If you have evidence they were paid off, let's hear it. If you don't, then you're just trying to float a baseless rumor in an effort to discredit the AARP. I may as well ask you how much the insurance industry is paying you to ask questions like this. I have just as much evidence that you're working for them as you have evidence that the AARP was paid off.
  8. $0.00 Rating:0/10 Fail!
  9. This is not news. I heard weeks ago they were going to support it.*
  10. Nothing. I think they finally remembered their mission, which is to look out for the best interests of seniors (rather than focusing on their multiple insurance products).
  11. Thats a good question. a better question is how much are the insurance giants in the US being paid in their attempts to defeat the bill.. everybody is in it for the money so what's so hard about understanding that. I doubt if theywere paid anything, but if they were, I would offer that they have the same rights as do the hundreds of lobbyists on Capitol Hill. So then. Next.
  12. Call Fox News. Rush Limbaugh and sure they have all the "facts."
  13. You know they struck a deal, Granny. And Democrats don't care because to them it's all part of "the game". Perhaps there will be no more Medicare and it will become AARP Care.
  14. i dispute your implication AARP took any money to endorse the bill. They are for protecting their members and if it (the bill) were bad for their members, it would be crazy for them to endorse it against their membership. But you neocons will lie and/or say anything, falsely accusing anybody in favor of the bill of accepting a payoff or bribe. That's called "scraping the bottom of the barrel'', when you run out of legitimate arguments.
  15. Like the unions that have backed the plan, they will gain two things.1) they like the unions will be waived from actually being required to use the health care plan. Remember these people are on medicare & unions all have private insurance.2) They like the unions are guaranteed backing for the programs they want implemented, like tax breaks and increased SSI. Now let us not forget that Obama just bypassed a law about SSI increase matching inflation. No inflation , no SSI increase. This year he bought the AARP vote by given a $250.increase!
