Does anyone know if my blue cross or other medical insurance plan will cover massage under a chiropractor code?

I was told that #97124 is the correct code to use when billing for massage therapy done in a chiropractic office and must be done on a separate day than the chiro care..

1. most insurance plans don't cover massage. About 10 years ago, I had a Blue Cross of CA plan that reduced the cost of massages and other alternative medical treatment.
2. Its still massage and the code will be the same regardless in a chiros office or otherwise. Look at the exclusions in the policy. Some MAY cover but only for a limited time if they do cover, or specifically state it will be excluded. When a provider submits a bill for services, all procedures have specific codes they use which the insurance company will pay or deny based if it is covered or not. good luck
3. Yes, Blue Cross knows. Call the number on the back of your card. Most plans won't cover it.
