  1. After he marries you, you can.
  2. He'd have to ask at his work if they cover domestic partnerships, but the question would be why would you want to? Group insurance (assuming you mean at his work) costs twice that of individual insurance, so unless you're unhealthy odds are you could do better on your own. It's also not up to the state necessarily (unless they mandate it). It's up to the insurance company and the employer. The employer is usually the one that decides. AND, more often than not the employer doesn't pay for domestic partners so absolutely the individual is usually the better way to go if you're healthy. Regardless you need to check. Nobody here knows what available to you at your boyfriend's work. Ask your boyfriend to ask.
  3. If his employer offers benefits to non-marital partners, you can probably be covered. Most group plans, though, require a dependent to meet IRS definitions of a dependent, which means you would need to be married. There are only a few states that recognize common law marriage, and Florida is not one of them. Individual policies are not always a better deal (especially if his employer is paying a larger percentage of the cost), but you do have options available to you. If you MUST have coverage ( your pregnant, etc), then check with your local DFS to see if you qualify for state coverage.
  4. He would want to check with his human resources area and see if they allow domestic partners. If they do, he can inquire on the costs. He would probably have to pay the taxes on the insurance, or a higher premium (depending on what his employer offers). Keep in mind if you didn't have coverage prior to going on his policy you may be affected by a preexisting waiting period, so any conditions you were treated for prior to going on the policy wouldn't be covered until the wait is up(again depending on his employers benefits). If he has a Premium/Fully Funded policy, then he probably can not add you. If his group is Self Funded, then they may allow this.
  5. Health insurance can be very tricky. Since I live in Idaho I'm not sure about Florida laws and regulations, so I recommend you call a local health insurance agent. http://www.americaschoicetoday.com/Health-Insurance.html They will be able to assist you.
