Scan Medical Insurance

How often do i need to undergo full body scan?

as u know early detection of cancer can save your life. the best way to detect this is via MRI or PET-CT scans which are not 100% neutral to health how often do i need to do them to make sure i do not detect cancer at the stage where it's too late?

  1. You gotta ask your Dr.
  2. I just read an article about this the other day. It's completely unnecessary unless you are having some real problems that you want checked out. In fact, the article said that they're often not all that good at detecting cancers, etc any earlier than anything else. So, don't waste your money just yet. A better preventative approach would be to make sure you're exercising regularly, eating lots of fruits and veggies and whole grains, and just making sure you're healthy overall. And I'm sorry, I don't remember where I read that article, or I'd pass along the info.
  3. While a body scan *might* find something, they can also be inaccurate, or miss something important. The danger here is that a person may have a false sense of security, and not have regular checkups (which are more likely to find a problem). A consultant radiologist said "An individual undergoing this examination receives much more radiation than they would from all other sources for several years - they might as well take a trip to Chernobyl."
