will i have to take out my body jewelery for a CT scan?
Im having a CAT scan this thursady, and i was just wondering if i would have to take out my belly button piercing for it, or if it would be okay to leave it in.

- If the CT scan is of your chest, abdomen or pelvis, then you will be asked to remove your belly jewelry. If the CT scan is of your head - it can stay in (although you'll be asked to remove earrings) Hope all is well!
- I've had several CAT scans (two in the last 5 months) and each time they asked me to remove ALL jewelry--no exceptions......the CAT scan is magnetic and any jewelry would be prone to pull toward the magnetic field of the scan and COULD rip out of your body---the magnetic field on those things is EXTREMELY POWERFUL so I would NOT risk going for the scan if I had ANY jewelry on ANYWHERE--regardless of what was being scanned.
- You can leave it in. You would have to take it out if you were getting an MRI
- no u have to take all jewelry off
- try looking up answers on websites like www.drkoop.com he says "Since x-rays have difficulty passing through metal, the patient will be asked to remove jewelry and wear a hospital gown during the study." Sounds like you take it ALL off.
