Whatever happened to Cash for Service with the medical profession?

When did the insurance industry get involved in all this? It seems like all they've done is jack up prices, restrict care, and given everyone a headache. Do you think a return to cash for service, where the fees and treatment are determined between the doctor and the patient, would just be a simpler option? Less paperwork. Less headache. Better care. Lower costs for preventative medicine. I suppose the sticking point is when you're having major surgery or come down with Cancer. But then insurance companies reject that anyway...

  1. My doctor will give me a 15% discount if I pay cash. Then I have to handle any potential reimbursement from my insurance. Works out as a win in both cases.
  2. I'm with you. Somewhere along the way "insurance" became interchangeable with "healthcare."
  3. Well It was out the door on February 18, 1971, Thanks to Then President Richard Nixon and and Private Insurer Harry Kaiser reaching a Deal to Privatize Health Care This is why we are in Debt and Drug Companies and Health Care Companies, (Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aenta, Cigna, HCA, Humana, and Cinergy) all I mean all won't cover you when you are sick and Dying, whatever your Diagnosis maybe. May I add H1N1 will be worse and Not better in the Fall and Patient the (Elderly, Disabled, Poor) Thrown Out of Emergency Rooms like at University of Chicago Hospital, USC Medical Center in Los Angeles, and the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia are being thrown out why because they get Huge Contributions by President Obama Vice President Biden and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. When will they care about You, Me or any other Average Person and I don't care If its Democrat, Republican, Independent, Public or Private, Health Care in America is Really "Health I Don't Care", that's been the attitude for years.
