How SAFE are those new body scans at the airports?

sure it's great for security purposes, but what about health safety?

1. i saw on the news that they give off less radiation than a cell phone which leads me to believe they are pretty safe
2. If you are a male with a tiny package, it could be quite hazardous and humiliating for your mental health as your package is revealed for everyone to see!!
