Cystic Lesion/Chondroma on foot & rib, now what?

Since Dec last year I developed extreem fatigue, and my iron levels went to an extreem low, including my stores. In Jan. my left foot on the underside ball of the foot, began to hurt quite badly. By May I could hardly walk. In May my rib area on the right side below the breast began hurting. It hurts to the point I can't lay in certain positions, or touch the area at all. After recent xrays, both areas are showing what they have suggested to be cystic lesions or chondromas. But without a biopsy my doctor says we won't know if these are mailgnant or not. I went yesterday for a full body bone scan. I assume she wants to know if there are more then just the two in my body. I won't know the results until Tuesday or so. I should also note that I had an ultra sound of my neck which showed 2 lymph nodes to be larger then the norm. Any advice or info is appreciated. Thank You

  1. You need a new doctor who will actively get to a diagnosis. If this has been going on since December than the doctor you have is either not taking your complaints seriously or is not knowledgeable enough to be treating you. Ask for a referral to a sarcoma specialist that deals with chondrosarcoma (malignant chondromas). They will know whether to proceed with a biopsy or not. I do not know if this is what is going on with you, but an oncologist that specializes in sarcoma would know and be able to take the necessary steps to determine what this is. If it turns out to be sarcoma than you will already be in good hands and can avoid all the 'oops' surgeries and treatments. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chondrosarcoma http://sarcomahelp.org/chondrosarcoma.html
