Solutions for inadequate dental insurance coverage?
I have the standard Delta Dental insurance that is common for many employees, and am finding that I will still have to pay a lot out of pocket for work that is needed, especially since I may need a potential root canal and crown in a cavity the dentist identified. Does anyone have information regarding additional help for dental financing/insurance? My plan maxes out at $1,200 per person per year. It seems like I must simply pay for the rest of the costs myself, but wondered if anyone is aware of any other solutions?

- I would encourage you to visit this great website: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago when I too max out on my insurance and needed something else to cover some of the dental cost. They have saved me thousands of dollars on all of my dental services since. From exams, extractions, xrays, fillings, Cleanings, and even my braces. They even had my very affordable benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use them the very same day. Good luck and Hope this helps
- My plan has a secret that they keep close to their vest. If you send in a form plus the receipts of work paid out they reimburse you an additional 70% of the cost. A health care provider will take off 70% in the office yet the provider will pay the additional 70% if you send in the form and receipt. So check out your policy details first. When I first began at my job I was only part time and health care was more than I was willing to pay, so for dental visits I went to a dental college. There is still an out of pocket expense but all in all the students tend to be more cautious about the work they do. They are trying to build a client base as well as get some good references for the work they've done. I wouldn't let them do a root canal or braces but smaller things like crowns or caps, dentures and fillings are things they do fairly often and believe me when I say a lot of people do this.
- Erm, be proactive in keeping your teeth and gums healthy so you don't need a dentist in the first place. General health also has a dramatic effect on our teeth. For example scurvy a lack of vitamin C will result in loose teeth. Take at least 1000mg per day. If you smoke, twice that. It is the one thing our body needs that we don't produce ourselves. A cheap supply that is better than medical grade is ordinary wine making ascorbic acid. Add 1/2 a level teaspoon of it to a glass of fruit juice, twice per day. And your general health will be much much better. Vitamin C is vital to our body systems. For example Cancer cells cannot survive in a body with a ph over 7. Vitamin C can raise it. You will have a much better immune system. Cancer should be called 'sluggish immune disorder', not a meaningless fear inducing label. Keep well sweetie. :) Practicing Shaman.... quantum physics rocks.
