How would I and millions like me benefit from Obamacare? Or would we?

I am 35 years old, proud father, devoted husband, I work full time, I'm on track to make about $97,000 by years end, and I pay about $26,000 a year in taxes. I also pay $400 a month for Aetna Medical Insurance after my company contribution for me and my family. So sinse Obamacare is so great, maybe some kind harded liberal can tell me how I'm going to benefit. Or am I one of those evil "rich" people that make too much, doesn't pay his fair share, and who SHOULD pay higher taxes so that everybody else can health care too?

  1. Why don't you wait to hear the details of the bill before you assume its going to be awful. How do you know how much it will cost?
  2. Depends on if you choose to opt in to the health care plan. If you don't, you will benefit from having the same plan you've always haved, with no changes to you and your family. If you opt in, you have the benefit of several health care packages, none of which will cost more than 200.00 per month for a family of 4.
  3. You can expect the portion of your companies contribution to go down and for you to pick up the extra costs. The current healthbill calls for a penalty of 8% of payroll for companies who do not offer insurance. 60% of companies now incur 14% of payroll for health insurance coverage. So why would a compnay pay 14%, when the standard measure is now 8% of payroll, for anyone other then senior management.
  4. Nope, you're not one of those evil rich people. First and foremost, you can KEEP your insurance if you so choose. Second, if you were to ever lose your job and either couldn't find one right away or couldn't afford health insurance with your next job, then you would be able to use his plan. Basically, should you ever need health care but can't afford your own, private plan, you will STILL have an affordable option available.
  5. Is this a personal issue??? I have aetna, too.. and I make a little more than you..(if that means anything)lol. but I support healthcare reform(not particularly this bill) because health is as much a right as education and law enforcement.. why should we ignore those less fortunate??
  6. Sorry you would not benefit at all u make too much money, but you can still stick with your current health care provider
  7. It won't benefit you. Companies will be fined $750 a per individual a year for not offering a plan Most are going to let you go into the government health care plan since it will be cheaper to pay the $750 than to contribute to a plan for employees.
  8. We'll I am very conservative, but, 14,000 Americans have to give up their health care everyday. That's alot. Millions of Americans have to worry all the time because of no health care. I recently got laid off and its quite a shock to lose my Kaiser-I got in on the Steps plan-but, might lose it as it goes up in price and Iam a single senior. I think the ones against this must be the rich who have health care, against the poor or middle class who have none. The haves against the have nots. I think we should all pay for the health care according to what our income is. The rich shouldn't pay for it all-thats not fair, either. But, I can't wait for the govt health care plan to pass-at least its something-even though it won't be much. My son-in-law was raised in England-he broke his nose as a boy-and the doctors under socialized medicine gave him an appt to have his nose set for 1 1/2 yrs away! Alarming, really. I think America will have 'black market' doctors-for under the table fees-you can get your nose or leg set etc. It is scary either way-no health insurance or really bad health insurance! Obama does say-if you like and can afford your health-care then keep it-don't change-I wonder if that will be true in the end, though. Its a big mess.
  9. When your employer has to reduce headcount and salaries by 6-15% to cover their rising health care contribution costs and higher taxes your $97K-26K will be worth slightly over $60K. If your personal taxes increase and states are required to carry a heavier load making your sales taxes increase you are down to about $54K. As more Obama bucks stimulate the economy and are pushed out into the market your dollar is devalued and you might be earning $50K. Comparing today's taxes and prices to taxes and prices in the 80's, you're making about $32K in Reagan bucks. If you have more than three people in your family, then according to Federal standards in 1988, you are slightly below the poverty line with a family income of less than $11K per family member. So, no. Although having a job that pays $97K required an intense amount of commitment and dedication on your part - due to modern communism, you are not rich by any means. But hopefully you can rest easily knowing that the illegal immigrant breaking into your car will have free medical care when he cuts his hand on the glass. Heck, he might even get invited to the Whitehouse for a beer.
