Does food that is in your body show on a CT scan?

I just had a CT scan today and I was wondering if food or liquids in my lungs or anywhere else on my body would show on my CT scan. Can some please answer my question? I was not asked to not eat food before taking it because I was rushed in right from the doctor's office. It was a chest CT scan.

  1. I'm thinking it has more to do with getting an upset stomach from a full stomach and the contrast material (barium) they sometimes make you drink beforehand, or it can be injected and nausea can also be exacerbated by a full stomach.
  2. If you had an abdominal cat scan, food would not show up. IF you had a Cat scan of your lungs and you were wondering if food or liquid were there, it would show up as a hazy patch. We are not meant to have food/liquid in our lungs.
