Health Insurance covering the cost of braces?
I'm just wondering if there is anyone out there that has had health insurance cover their braces. My husband is major need of teeth repair, and he has broken through the upper lip on both side from different things. - - - he's dental insurance will cover 1/2 of it, i was just wondering in health insurance ever considered covering braces. He has two different dental plans, if health insurance doesn't cover it, could the other plan (through military) cover the other 1/2? thanks for any answers~

- Health insurance will not cover braces, but if he has two dental insurance plans, then he ought to have it made as far as the bills go.
- See if the health insurance will pay for it, IF IT IS medically required (dr authorizes it, as for his physical well being/necessary)
- Health Insurance usually does not cover orthodontics or dental unless it is a direct result of accident or illness. Usually Dental plans only pay on average 1000-1500 per year maximum, no matter what you have done...I know that United Concordia (Military Dental) will only pay 1000 toward braces...hope this helps!
- I you have ins. throught the military you should see if he can get the work done on base then the base would pick up a majority off the cost for you but thats only if hes active duty.
- I just had braces (got them off 2 weeks ago), I'm 30 and my insurance didn't cover a penny. They said that after age 18 it is considered "cosmetic" which is why they wouldn't pay for it!
