Scan Medical Insurance

So I've been declined twice for health insurance?

I tried applying once online by myself for Humana One and got declined. The reason was because about a year ago I went to the doctor because I was feeling dizzy, they took blood samples and all came back negative then it went away in like two days so I never went for a follow up. Well the reason for decline was of undiagnosed condition and lack of follow up. This is ridiculous because I have never been to the doctor except this one time and I have no health conditions. I'm 25 year old healthy female. Anyways, I went to an agent to recommended I apply for United health and of course I got denied again. I asked my agent what my other options were and he said we were going to try Unicare. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get denied for that as well so i really don't know what my insurance agent is thinking. Does anyone have any experience similar to this? Any suggestions? thank you thank you thank you. I've already tried to appeal but they didn't accept it now I'm going to go try to take to my doctor about the medical records.

  1. Its not an unusual situation. Your insurance agent should be able to steer you towards companies that may take you. Apply to the ones that he/she recommends. I'd suggest appealing to underwriting with medical records, but it sounds like there may not be any recent records. (Since you stated that you only went to the doctor that one time.) Otherwise, I'd suggest trying to get a job that comes with health insurance benefits, if you are able. An employer group plan would have to accept you once you completed any probationary/waiting periods.
  2. can you go back to the doctor you saw a year ago when you felt dizzy ... you may have to pay out of pocket for the visit .. and tell the doctor ... he needs to fix your medical records ... tell him he's chart notes appear that you have an undiagnosed condition ... which you do not have ... you got dizzy cuz ________ (you were on your period, or it was a hot day, or whatever) ... then take the letter signed by the doctor ... you write a letter explaining the situation (i.e. i went the doctor cuz i felt dizzy, i felt dizzy because i had not eaten all day, and it was 100 degrees out, or whatever your story is) ... and APPEAL the declination for the insurance carrier. I have seen declination turn into approvals ... so it can't hurt to try ... but you need to get that situation out your medical records, and that doctor needs to complete his chart notes so it doesn't look like an open condition. GOOD LUCK !! fight fight fight ... push push push ... that is what you have to do with insurance.

  4. ~~~~My husband had a very weird thing the happened last year and we were concerned it would be a problem when we applied for a new insurance this year. Our agent just had me write a letter of explanation on the entire episode explaining how we first thought it was a heart problem but later found it was a broken vertebrae in his neck which mimicked heart attack symptoms, landing him in the hospital for an overnight stay. She submitted the letter along with his application. It flew right through, and this is with Blue Shield of California. So next application, attach a letter explaining it was not anything serious (just a bug), so no need for follow up was necessary. Have the agent submit this at the same time with your application. It will keep this illness from being flagged which usually results in denial. Best of luck~~
