Humana is setting a $7500.00 deductible on my health insurance, is that normal?
Payment is $240 a month for 2 adults

- That sounds like what is called a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). It is usually coupled with a Health Savings Account (HSA).
- Yes, that's normal. $240 a month for 2 adults is a fairly low monthly premium payment, especially if either of you have any medical conditions. The lower the premium, the higher the deductible. If you want a plan with a lower deductible, then you'll also have to take on a higher monthly premium payment. Would I personally purchase a policy with a $7,500 deductible? Maybe...but only if I had a Health Savings Account to go along with it.
- The higher the deductible the lower the monthly premium. As long as you are comfortable with the monthly premium amount and you feel that you could come up with the $7,500 to meet the deductible if something major ever happened then you should be in good shape. Your plan is probably a High Deductible Health Insurance Plan (HDHP) and eligible for combination with a Health Savings Account (HSA).
